Typically not seen during the funeral, the behind-the-scenes presence of support staff is nonetheless critical to the day-to-day operation of our facilities. Our support staff plays an important role in ensuring our high standard of service. We are proud of their dedication and commitment.

Eugene Franklin Eugene has been employed with MGS since 2000. He is married to Joyce Wade Franklin of 55 years. They have two children, Ronnie Franklin and Latise Marcus, two grandchildren and one great grandson. He previously worked for Carwood Manufacturing for 23 years and also at Lee Arrendale State Prison for 25 years. He is a member and deacon at Mud Creek Baptist Church and enjoys the outdoors, hunting and gardening.

Melvin King Melvin has been with MGS since March of 2009. He has been married to Sue Maney King for 42 years and he has one daughter, Angie Hamill. Melvin is a member of The Torch and is retired from US Food Service with 26 years of service. He also worked with Big Star for 21 years. Melvin is a member of the Clarkesville American Legion post #84 and The Northeast Georgia Mustang Club. He is also a US Navy veteran with 8 years of service. He enjoys antique cars and riding motorcycles in his spare time.

Fred Reid Fred has been with MGS since 1996. He has been married to Helen NeSmith Reid for 55 years and they have two sons, Brent and Brad and five grandchildren. Fred is a member of Cornelia United Methodist Church, Cornelia Masonic Lodge, Mountaineer Shrine Club, Yaarab Shrine Temple and is on the Advisory Board of the Johnson & Johnson Retiree Association. He is also a US Army veteran with 8 years of service. In their spare time Fred and Helen enjoy traveling.

Ray Stewart Ray has been with MGS since 1999. He has been married to Willene Jenkins Stewart for 50 years and has two children, Teresa Huff and Tim Stewart. Ray also has six grandchildren that he loves to spend time with. He also enjoys golfing and traveling. Ray is a member of Hillside Baptist Church in Cornelia and is retired from Clarkesville Mill with 42 years of service.

Wendell Vonier Wendell has been employed with MGS since January1994. He and his wife graduated from Habersham Central and live in Mt. Airy. He is also a graduate of Piedmont College. He is a member of Level Grove Baptist Church. He enjoys spending time with his sons and their families.

Charlie Wood Charlie has been working in the funeral business for over 20 years. He has been married to Mary Davis Wood for 26 years. They have 3 daughters and 4 grandsons. Charlie retired from Batson’s Grocery Store with 37 years of service. He is a member of Demorest Church of God.  Charlie enjoys working their farm along with gardening.
